Kali D.V. Oliver:
Currently a University of Idaho Department of Sociology & Anthropology graduate student, my area of academic emphasis lies within historical archaeology. My thesis work focuses on aiding a Washington museum with the re-processing and long-term preservation of a local orphaned archaeological collection, a project which has helped me further develop a newfound passion for rehabilitation of research materials and work with small non-profits. As writer of this grant, my responsibilities within the Aiding the Asian American Comparative Collection project took on a more administrative capacity, thereby, allowing me to work alongside the wonderful people at the Office of Community Partnerships towards development the project’s overall goals and promotion of its public engagement activities. As such, I have been particularly interested in how we can continue to develop online tools in a multidisciplinary fashion for researchers while also promoting continued community involvement. Though I will be moving to Alaska in the near future to pursue a career in either Cultural Resource Management or Museum Anthropology, I hope to continue finding ways of providing valuable research tools, such as those found at the AACC, to folks who may otherwise not be able to access materials due to physical, geographic or socioeconomic constraints.
